Dr David Miller – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. David Miller completed his Orthopaedic training in Queensland, then went on to complete two years of subspecialty fellowship training in the United Kingdom. He has a strong passion for research and teaching and is a reviewer for several prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, The Bone and Joint Journal (UK), and The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery. Dr. Miller holds a public appointment in general orthopaedics and trauma at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Dr Praveen Vijaysegaran – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Praveen Vijaysegaran is a Queensland-trained orthopaedic surgeon who also holds a Master of Applied Science focusing on orthopaedic research from Queensland University of Technology. He completed his fellowship under the guidance of some of Brisbane’s most respected orthopaedic surgeons and served as the Director of Orthopaedics at Ipswich General Hospital for several years.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Vijaysegaran is actively engaged in orthopaedic research and holds academic positions at the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. He is also involved in teaching and contributes to the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s Outreach Program.

Dr Ali Vakili – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Ali Vakili is a Queensland-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience across various levels in the West Moreton region. He completed his fellowship at McMaster University Hospital in Canada and holds a Master of Sports Medicine from the University of Queensland. Currently serving as the Director of Orthopaedics at Ipswich General Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, he is passionate about education and research.

Dr Michael Reid – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Michael Reid, originally from Scotland, is a UK-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who completed additional fellowship training both in the United Kingdom and Australia. He and his family relocated to Cairns in 2015 and have more recently moved to South East Queensland.
Dr. Reid is actively engaged in academic pursuits as an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at James Cook University, where he continues to contribute to research.

Dr Sarah Murgatroyd – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Murgatroyd undertook her medical degree at Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London before relocating to the Southern Hemisphere to pursue her Orthopaedic training. She then completed her fellowship in Sydney at Macquarie University and at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Subsequently, Dr. Murgatroyd returned to the United Kingdom for a fellowship in paediatric orthopaedics at the University of Southampton Children’s Hospital.

Dr Ulf Landgraf – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Ulf Landgraf completed his orthopaedic specialist training in both Germany and Australia. He then completed advanced fellowships in Berlin, Edinburgh, and the Gold Coast, where he gained specialized experience across different healthcare settings. Dr Landgraf also holds a research degree from Hanover Medical School and international membership with the German Society of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery. Now settled in South- East Queensland, Dr. Landgraf works at Redcliffe Hospital. Alongside his clinical work, he continues to contribute to education as a teaching staff member at the University of Tasmania and University of Queensland.

Dr Jamie Mckenzie – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr James Mckenzie is a UK trained orthopaedic surgeon, graduating from the University of London. He went on to complete further fellowships at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and at the Ganga Hospital Microsurgical centre. Dr Mckenzie is a member of both Australian and British Orthopaedic societies and contributes his orthopaedic expertise by sitting on Trauma committees, reviews research projects and is a clinical lecturer at the University of Queensland. In his spare time he is also a member of the Humanitarian Aid Fellowship Edinburgh, and the Commonwealth services abroad team which provides humanitarian medical aid in conflict and disasters areas.

Dr Michael McAuliffe – Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr Michael McAuliffe completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland before undertaking his orthopaedic training in Queensland. He went on to complete an orthopaedic fellowship at the Adidas Sports Medicine Clinic in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2016, Dr McAuliffe was awarded the prestigious ABC Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to visit leading orthopaedic hospitals and clinics across the USA and Canada. He later completed his PhD at the University of Technology, focusing on the soft tissues of the knee. Alongside his work at Access Ortho, Dr McAuliffe is Deputy Director of the Orthopaedic Joint Registry and currently serves as Director of Orthopaedics at Redcliffe Hospital. He is passionate about research and is committed to delivering the highest standard of personalised care to his patients.

Dr. Melissa Gan – Emergency Medicine Physician
Dr. Melissa Gan joined the Access Ortho team in 2023 as an Emergency Medicine Specialist. She completed the majority of her specialist training at the Gold Coast Hospital, where she was involved in the acute management of various orthopaedic injuries, ranging from minor to severe. Dr. Gan now divides her time between working in the Emergency Department and at Access Ortho. She has a special interest in ensuring an efficient injury management journey for busy school parents.
Nurse Practitioners

Robert Hong – Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner
Robert is our most seasoned Nurse Practitioner, having been an integral part of Access Ortho since 2018. His impressive credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Science Nursing, Graduate diploma in midwifery, Graduate certificates in infection control and critical care nursing as well as a Masters in Advanced Practice Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Studies. Robert’s extensive background encompasses years of managing complex acute orthopaedic injuries, including during his time spent in the Emergency Department at Ipswich General Hospital. As our leading orthopaedic emergency Nurse Practitioner, he brings unparalleled expertise and a wealth of experience to our team.

Claire O’Carroll – Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner
Claire contributes a wealth of experience to Access Ortho, with her notable qualifications, including a Masters in Nurse Practitioner and a Masters in Perioperative Nurse Surgical Assisting. Her career, which commenced in the UK, has been marked by roles across various hospitals and surgical theatres throughout South East Queensland, including the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Children’s Hospital. Over the past decade, Claire has focused on supporting Orthopaedic Surgeons in their clinical and surgical environments across the Sunshine Coast.
Access Ortho is privileged to benefit from her specialised expertise and considerable experience, which greatly enhances the quality of care provided at our clinic.

Megan Bool – Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner
Megan joined the Access Ortho team in 2023, bringing remarkable expertise and qualifications to the role. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing, a Master of Nurse Practitioner, and a Master of Emergency Nursing. With an impressive background in managing a diverse range of acute orthopaedic injuries in the Emergency Departments at Ipswich General Hospital and QE2 Hospital, Megan now divides her time between IGH Emergency Department and Access Ortho, delivering outstanding care in both settings. Her experience and exceptional organisational skills are invaluable assets to our team.

Chris Cronk – Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner
Chris has worked periodically with Access Ortho since its inception. With a Masters in Nurse Practitioners and a Graduate Certificate in specialised Orthopaedic Acute Care Nursing, he also brings substantial experience from his time in remote and rural healthcare settings. His current roles span Emergency Departments, urgent care clinics, and Access Ortho, reflecting his ability to effectively manage a diverse range of responsibilities.
Reception Team

Sally – General Manager
Sally not only serves as the Practice Manager at Access Ortho, but also proudly stands as one of its founding members. After graduating with a degree in physiotherapy, Sally adeptly transitioned into practice management, amassing over 16 years of extensive experience. Her career has been marked by senior managerial roles in both a large physiotherapy clinic and within Orthopaedic Surgeons’ private practices. At Access Ortho, she is regarded as the paramount expert in business and administration management, meticulously overseeing all operational facets.

Tahnee – Practice Manager (Shared role)
Tahnee has been with Access Ortho for many years. With 25 years in the healthcare industry under her belt, she is a vital part of our administration team. Her dedication and versatility are highly appreciated.

Brittany – Practice Manager (Shared role)
Britt has been a dedicated professional in the health field for nearly two decades. After an impressive 17-year tenure in the pharmaceutical industry, we were thrilled to welcome her to our Access Ortho administration team in 2023. Her wealth of experience and passion for healthcare have made her an invaluable addition to our team.

Lyndell – Ipswich lead receptionist
Lyndell brings nearly two decades of invaluable experience as a medical receptionist to her role at Access Ortho. Prior to joining our team, she served as the receptionist for an Orthopaedic Surgeon’s private practice in Ipswich, where she acquired comprehensive expertise in all things orthopaedic. Her extensive knowledge and personal commitment make her an indispensable member of our team.

Jannah – Receptionist
We are pleased to introduce Jannah Coombs as the newest member of the Access Ortho reception team. Jannah brings a broad background in customer service, having previously worked with well-known businesses across South-East Queensland including managing her own business. Her warm personality and exceptional organizational abilities have already made her an asset to our team.

Isaac – Receptionist
Isaac is a casual receptionist with the Access Ortho team whilst also completing a Bachelor of Business and Law (Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology. Coming from a family of medical professionals, he enjoys working in a clinical environment and assisting patients. He has a particular understanding of young athletes recovering from injury. Outside of work and study, Isaac is passionate about rugby union.

Chloe – Receptionist
Chloe is a casual member of the Access Ortho team and is working as a receptionist while completing a Bachelor of Environmental Management at the University of Queensland. Her family is filled with medical professionals, so she feels right at home working alongside the Access Ortho team. Before joining the team, she worked in admin at a podiatry clinic in her hometown, the Sunshine Coast.
