Rugby league is a popular contact sport in Queensland, played at both amateur and professional levels, including the highly followed Queensland Cup and NRL competitions. The game is fast-paced and physically demanding, involving frequent tackling, sprinting, and sudden changes in direction. As a result, players are prone to a range of musculoskeletal injuries. Common injuries include shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff tears, and AC joint sprains from heavy tackles; knee injuries such as ACL or MCL tears from twisting movements; ankle sprains and fractures from rapid sidesteps or collisions; and concussions from high-impact contact. Overuse injuries, including hamstring and calf strains, are also common due to the sport’s repetitive high-intensity demands.
